Dr. Mark Sherrid is Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone School of Medicine and Director of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Program at NYU Langone Health (2015-2024). Previously he was Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Roosevelt Hospital (now Mt. Sinai West) (1978-2015) and Director of the HCM Program (1990-2015). In that capacity he was Professor of Medicine at Columbia P&S and then Professor of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York City.
Dr. Sherrid is an internationally recognized expert in diagnosis and treatment of HCM. The NYU Program has consulted on ~2500 HCM patients. Dr. Sherrid's research interests include pharmacologic and surgical treatment of obstructive HCM; advanced diagnostic echocardiographic techniques in that condition; mitral valve abnormalities; acute LV ballooning in HCM mimicking takotsubo syndrome; and the cause, clinical course and treatment of aneurysms in HCM
