Salim Aziz MD (Clin. Professor Cardiac Surgery, George Washington University) did his surgical training & cardiovascular fellowship at Stanford University & Univ. of Minnesota. After graduating from University of London he trained in Cambridge, with Sir Roy Calne during the first trials with cyclosporine in transplantation. He spent a year at UCSD gaining valuable experience in surgical management of CTEPH. He was co-director of heart transplantation at the University of Washington & has extensive experience in cardiac transplantation, complex coronary surgery, ECMO, aortic surgery and management of combined PAD & CAD. Publications in the field of transplantation include the role of dual pattern of endothelial injury in accelerated allograft atherosclerosis (AGA), the endothelium in discordant xenotransplantation and reduction in cardiac transplant AGA using LMWH in combination with cyclosporine.
