Dr. Bowdish serves as Professor, Vice Chair, and Clinical Chief of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Smidt Heart Institute, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Bowdish’s clinical expertise focuses on the aortic valve and aortic surgery, including aortic root reconstruction, valve-sparing root surgery, aortic arch surgery, hybrid repair techniques, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. As Vice Chair of Cardiac Surgery, Dr. Bowdish leads the development of cardiac surgery across the Cedars-Sinai Health System and currently oversees the three affiliated programs. Dr. Bowdish’s research focuses on pivotal randomized trials in cardiac surgery, primarily through the NIH-sponsored Cardiothoracic Surgical Trials Network. Dr. Bowdish serves as Chair of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Workforce on Adult Cardiac Surgery Database.
