Dr. Bellera is staff in the interventional cardiology unit in Hospital Universitari Vall d´Hebron. She combines clinical activity with experimental research at Vall Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). Her research is focused on laser therapy for complex coronary disease. In preclinical setting, she pursued the PhD in experimental cardiology in 2013, with the qualification of “cum laude” and extraordinary doctorate award. Currently, she is involved in the Photoheart project funded by La CaixaResearch grant that test light-controlled drugs to provide early and localized treatment, at the time of reperfusion therapy, to significantly reduce cardiac tissue damage. She have filed two patent applications. Her teaching activity includes the training of postgraduate students as a professor of the cardiovascular diseases module of the master in Translational Biomedical Research of the VHIR.
