Patrick Serruys is a world-renowned expert in interventional cardiology and imaging with >4 decades of experience in clinical trials and innovations. He pioneered several interventional procedures and devices such as BMS, DES, BRS, TAVI and imaging techniques such as QCA, IVUS, OCT, CTA. For twenty years he was chief of interventional cardiology at the Thoraxcenter Rotterdam. Currently, he is established Professor of Medical Intervention & Innovation at the University of Galway in Ireland. Recipient of multiple awards, including James B. Herrick Award by the AHA (2006), Lifetime Achievement Award (2011) by the ACC and a Gold Medal Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Science and Practice of Cardiology from the ESC. He has published in leading medical and cardiovascular journals (H-index 183). Founder and past editor in chief of EuroIntervention. Co-Editor of the ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine.
