Dr. Mavromatis is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University. He is Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. He also performs Transcatheter Valve and Structural Heart Disease Interventions at Emory University Hospital.
His main research interests are in the physiologic evaluation and invasive treatment of coronary artery disease and aortic valve stenosis. To this end, he has been an investigator in a number of important clinical trials, including COURAGE, FREEDOM, FAME II and III, ISCHEMIA and PARTNER I and II. He also has interests in the pathophysiology of vascular injury and repair, and has studied circulating stem cells and inflammatory biomarkers in the context of atherosclerosis and percutaneous coronary intervention.
