Dr. Ashequl Islam is an interventional cardiologist and currently the Associate Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Valve Program at Baystate Health. He is a Professor of Medicine and Surgery at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate. He has led the TAVR and then the Valve Program at Baystate since its inception in 2012 and innovated several procedure techniques and care models. The program is designated as ‘High Performing’ in TAVR among all US centers by US News. Dr. Islam is the founding President of “New England Valve and Structural Heart Foundation”, a non-for-profit and educational consortium of all the New England regional valve and structural programs. Dr. Islam has published more than 30 peer reviewed manuscripts and participated in more than 50 multi-center clinical trials as the site principal investigator or sub-investigator.
