Alvaro Alonso, MD, MSCR, RPVI, FACC, FSVM, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Alonso is an Academic Interventional Cardiovascular specialist, with a particular interest in vascular medicine and endovascular interventions, and deeply involved in clinical research. He is the Medical Director of the UMass Memorial Anticoagulation Center of Excellence and Director of the Cardiovascular Interventions Fellowship Program.
After graduating with Special Honors from Mexico City’s Universidad Panamericana School of Medicine, he completed all of his postgraduate training in the Boston area (Tufts University and University of Massachusetts). He obtained his Master's in Science in Clinical Research from Tulane University.
Dr. Alonso has published numerous, and is main author of a Peripheral Vascular Disease textbook.
