Michael Madani, MD is the John G. Pickard Chair in Cardiac Surgery, Professor of Surgery and Chief of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Dr. Madani is also the Executive Director of UCSD Sulpizio Cardiovascular Institute – Surgery.
Dr. Madani is an adult cardiac surgeon with over 25 years of experience. His main clinical interests include CTEPH, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE), mitral valve repair, as well as all minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgeries. He is regarded as one of the most experienced PTE surgeons in the world and has helped start up other comprehensive programs around the world. He has been involved in many studies related to his areas of expertise.
