Dr. Rajan Patel is medcial director of the cardiac catheterization labs and section head of interventional cardiology at the University of Virginia. He joined UVA in September 2024 after over a decade as the interventional cardiology fellowship program director and the medical director of the CTO PCI program at Ochsner Medical Center. His primary clinical interests include 1) the percutaneous treatment of complex coronary artery disease including CTO's and 2) peripheral vascular disease in addition to 3) supporting the adavnced heart failure/ transplant team with percutaneous mechanical circulatory support. His clinical research interests include improving outcomes in the treatment of complex coronary aretry disease and the treatment of cardiogenic shock. He is passionate about innovation in temporary mechanical circulatory support as well disparity in care research.
