Dr. Carlos L. Alviar is a cardiologist and critical care specialist who serves as assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at New York University School of Medicine. He is also the director of the cardiac and coronary care unit and director of the ECMO Program at Bellevue Hospital Center at New York University Langone Medical Center. Dr. Alviar has held several academic and clinical positions, at mayor academic institutions. Dr. Alviar has published numerous manuscripts and book chapters and presented his work at many national and international meetings. He is the recipient of several awards for his research endeavors. His current academic interests include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, hemodynamic support, cardiac critical care and ventilator management in the CICU. He serves as a leadership council member of the recently formed Cardiac Critical Care section of the American College of Cardiology.
