Samer Najjar, MD, is the Regional Chief of Cardiology for MedStar Health (Baltimore). He is a Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University, and serves as the Chairman of Cardiology at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. Prior to this position, he was the medical director of the advanced heart failure program at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Dr. Najjar completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude. He then earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine, and completed his residency, fellowship and sub-specialty training at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
His current research interests focus on novel therapies in heart failure and on advances in mechanical circulatory support. He is widely published, with over 200 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
