Gregory Trachiotis, MD, is a Professor of Surgery and Biomedical Engineering;Chief of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at GWUMC and VAMC , Director, Heart Center at The Veterans Affairs Medical Center/VISN-5 . His interests include end-stage heart lung disease, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), coronary artery disease, , off-bypass coronary revascularization, mini-pump technology , surgical valve diease and imaging, and TVT therapies. He is board certified by American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He earned his MD and general and thoracic residency at GWUMC and completed a heart and lung transplant surgery fellowship at Emory University and Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta. He maintains an active cardiothoracic research program in the Heart Center at the DC VAMC and and in affiliation with Biomedical Sciences at GWUMC. He has over 300 presentations and peer reviewed publications.
