Dr Nick West is Chief Medical Officer at Shockwave Medical; he was formerly Chief Medical Officer and Divisional Vice-President of Global Medical Affairs at Abbott Vascular, and before that, a full-time practising Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, a role he combined with being Chief Medical Officer of the Cambridge-based medtech startup PlaqueTec Ltd. He has published manuscripts and book chapters on topics including Nitric Oxide Biology, Coronary Physiology & Microvascular Function, Intracoronary Imaging, Vulnerable Plaque Detection, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Bioresorbable Scaffolds, Treatment of Vascualr Calcification, Healthcare Disparities and Patient-centric Care. He was chair of the AHA’s Bay Area Research Round Table in 2023 & is a member of the Innovation Council of the UCLA School of Biodesign.
