Prof. Georg Nickenig studied medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn. After working at the Medical University Clinic in Bonn, he spent two years on a research fellowship at Emory University Medical School, Atlanta, USA. 2000-2005, he was Professor of Cardiology in the Department of Internal Medicine III-Cardiology at Saarland University Hospital/Homburg.
In 2005, he was appointed to the Chair of Internal Medicine, Department of Cardiology and Pneumology at the University of Bonn and as Director of the Medical Clinic II at the University Hospital Bonn.
Georg Nickenig's work focuses on coronary heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure. Research focuses on molecular and cellular mechanisms of atherosclerosis and aortic disease and clinical research in coronary and structural heart disease.
He has authored or co-authored more than 750 articles in international journals.
