Dr. Ruben Tijssen is a Cardiology Resident at the at the St. Antonius Ziekenhuis Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. In 2021 he started his cardiology training under the supervision of dr. Wijffels and dr. Post. During his PhD period (2015-2019) at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers he was the trial coordinator and research physician of the AIDA trial. In June 2020 he succesfully defended his PhD entitled 'Bioresorbable vascular scaffold in routine clinical practice, insights from long-term follow-up and quantitative coronary angiography' under the supervision of Prof. Robbert de Winter, Prof. Patrick Serruys, Dr. Joanna Wykrzykowska and Prof. Yoshinobu Onuma. His main research interest are coronary stents, bioresorbable scaffolds and coronary imaging.
