Holger Thiele is the Medical Director of the Department of Internal Medicine/Cardiology at the Heart Center Leipzig at University of Leipzig which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is full professor of cardiology at the University of Leipzig and he is the current president of the German Cardiac Society.
His main research interests are acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, acute cardiovascular care, interventional cardiology and structural heart disease.
He has published over 1000 articles in scientific journals with a cumulative impact factor of >11.000, h-index 132. He has received multiple awards from the German Society of Cardiology and other organisations. Furthermore, he has been awarded as most cited researcher since 2020.
